In an effort to cut consumption of electric energy expended on extrernal power adapters, the United States Department od Energy (DOE) published the new regulations valid from February 2016. Most of our models, which can be used in the US already complies with this regulation, and they are growing gradually. More detailed information about efficiency for individual models are found in the technical documentation for the corresponding product.

New Low Voltage and EMC Directives in 2016

From April 20th, 2016 the European Commission applied two recast versions of directives for electrical devices: The Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC - Directive 2014/30/EU on EUR-Lex) and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD - Directive 2014/35/EU on EUR-Lex).

Both directives were adapted to the rules of the New Legislative Framework. For example, according to Annex III of the New Low Voltage Directive the technical documentation must include detailed risk analysis and assessment. Additionally, the rules for tracing of products and liability of manufacturers and importers were tightened. Exact declaration of type designation, batch or serial numbers on all devices are mandatory to ensure matching with the technical documentation. Also, the name and address of the manufacturer or importer is to be shown on the products themselves.

On January 3, 2013 the EC Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) will become invalid. The recast of the Directive has been published in the Journal of the European Union on July 1, 2011. (DIRECTIVE 2011/65/EU).

Please review the Directive as to which of your products fall under the scope of this recast as significant changes to the then deprecated Directive 2002/95/EC and its scope are described therein.
We would also like to point your attention to one of the significant changes: Conformity with the recast of the Directive 2011/65/EU will have to be confirmed by detailed measurements according to Article 7 “Obligations of Manufacturers”. Please ensure that all obligations are being observed before affixing the CE marking on the product itself and issuing a Declaration of Conformity confirming compliance with the Directive. The CE marking shall be subject to the general principles set out
in Article 30 of Regulation (EC) No 765/2008.
We kindly ask you to review the recast of the RoHS Directive and work on measures to ensure compatibility of your products that are being placed on the market of the European Union on and after January 3, 2013. Please contact your testing laboratories and / or Notified Bodies for further information.
